Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
I was born in Piripiri – PI, but I grew up in Teresina - PI.

Schooling? Art training?
I finished the Comic Book course at Quanta Academia de Artes in São Paulo.

How long have you been working professionally in comics?
Not for too long. I started after finishing the course at Quanta, in 2006.

What things -- both in art and otherwise -- have you worked on besides comics? Are comics a full-time gig for you or part-time?
I worked for two years at a public agency (Ministry of Education), but it was quite boring. I quit after two years and then started studying comics in SP (Quanta).

Talk about how you broke into the business --was it easy? Hard? Ups? Downs? Any interesting anecdotes? When you held your first published work in your hands, how did you feel?
It’s very hard, and I still haven’t had the opportunity to see one of my projects published, but I’ve produced a few, got paid and bought my Xbox 360, that soothes me. :)

Did you work as an assistant to any other artists? If so, please talk a bit about those experiences.
I haven’t had the opportunity.

How did your parents take to the idea of working in comics?
My father loves it, it was him who always supported me, bought comics for me even before I learned how to read, used to draw with me when I was a kid and all. He was my Maecenas! My mother loves me and wishes I were a doctor! (laughs)

How would you describe your workspace? Is it part of your home,
or do you go "to the studio"?
I have a room at home just to store comics, that’s where my studio is, with tables, computers, tons of papers and pens.

What job are you proudest of? What's your most embarrassing?
I really like a test I’ve done for Devil’s Due, my lines were very loose. I also really liked my participation in the Comic Book Idol contest. There were 5 pretty cool sequences to produce. The most embarrassing was one for the Witchblade. I made her look so ugly that it killed most part of the character’s appeal.

What are you currently drawing? Comments on that project?
Right now I don’t have any scheduled project.

Talk about your family: Parents, siblings, home situation. Are you married? Have kids? Names? Anecdotes about married life, how does it relate to your busy schedule, etc. If you have kids, do they understand your job? What do they say about it? Do they read comics?
I have two brothers, one is a lawyer, the other is a History teacher, and both can draw very well. Drawing has always been our hobby, but I was the only one who was willing to turn it into a profession.

What projects do you hope to work on in the future?
I plan to publish my own material, super heroes stuff, I’m working on it, but for now I’d like to do something with authors I admire, like Peter David or Dan Slott, for example.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years?
I hope by then I’m still having fun drawing, like I do today. It’s the best job ever!

What is the interest in comics where you live? Do friends and neighbors know you draw comics for a living? How do they react??
Where I live we have a staff very committed to comics, people who get together to show their drawings, just for fun. All my friends know what I do and are very supportive

What's 1 thing you'll always find in your refrigerator?
That’s kind of random! We never know what we’ll find in there...

What's your favorite food?
Sweets. Lemon pie.

What are your favorite interests --Movies? Music? TV? Any hobbies? Sports?
I really like the kind of movie where guys like Danny Boyle, Tarantino or Guy Ritchie create. As for TV, I’m addicted to sitcoms, but I can’t resist to videogames, comics or even books. I just practice sports when my waist is too wide.

Have you ever thought of writing your own stories?
YES! As I said before, I have my own projects, including one already written, sketched and with 10 finished pages, ready to be sold! :D

Have you ever been in a gang?
I have friends who, like me, know a few ninja techniques that are prohibited by the government, and use this knowledge to patrol streets and create a safe environment, but we don’t like to call us a gang. A league would be more appropriate.

What's an average day in your life like? Walk us through a typical day.
I wake up at 8 o’clock, but I get up only at 8:30. Have breakfast and start drawing. Pause for lunch. More drawing until 6 or 7 pm. Dinner and later I read something, play videogame. Around 10 pm I go back to my drawing board and then keep drawing until two in the morning.

Do you know any funny or interesting anecdotes to tell about the comics market?
I just got in this market... ask me again a few years from now, I’ll have pretty good ones!

If you weren't a comic-book artist today, what would you be?
Very sad! :(

Have you ever taught comic-book art or had any assistants? If so, talk about that?
No, sometimes they ask me to teach, but I’m too shy, I’d be nervous!

The single thing you'd most like to be remembered for in your life is...?
Being the last survivor of a moribund planet.
