I’m Fabio Laguna and have been working with comic books since 1994.
My first work in the USA market came after a long endurance of drawing samples. It was a fill in, in a comic book called “HYPERKIND UNLEASHED”, ( written by Clive Barker ) It was a big work to me by the time, due to the fact that I was very young, only 17.
I’ve started adapting myself and my style following the market tendencies such some of whose that were the pop stars, as Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Todd McFarlane and so on. These names were in every comic stores available, those wonderful comics full of details used to be my source of inspiration and they influenced me and thousands of artists in that time.
After Hyperkind I had the opportunity to take part in two WOLVERINE Comic book issues along Adam Kubert plus a chance to work in the MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE…and then many others jobs camestill for Marvel Comics, like:X-MEN UNLIMITED, AVENGERS, AVENGERS TIMESLIDE, ULTRA-FORCE ESPECIAL…
We have been always digging new jobs trying others companies to keep the “ball rolling” after each contract done, so I was a regular artist of MAXIMAGE from IMAGE COMICS, where I remained as penciler for 7 months and in a sequence I could draw BRIGADE and YOUNGBLOOD as well…
…Meanwhile a contact to CHAOS COMICS where through some new samples made me able to produced a magazine named SMILEY . It was great because it was full of funny jokes and anecdotes and I could show to them my passion of drawing cartoon style either. ..that I can say did flow very easy due to the fact of my experience to having worked with illustration of animation of Classical Fairy Tales here in Brazil.
I've been since a few years ago gathering information , learning, adapting and developing my styles in order to be prepared for what would come next.
The things was going pretty well and got better with the BIG opportunity that did appear for me being part of the Don Bluth and Gary Goldman "DRAGON'S LAIR” comic book project , it was six issues published from MV Creations and by Arcana where I had a pleasure and a honor to met the creators and sign together at Sandiego comic con 2008.

Condor and Mosaic, were two comic book projects for a DVD inside of Stan Lee’s POW! ENTERTAINMENT and Dark Horse, I’ve done the pencil and inks enclosing their covers as well, was really nice to work with and even great when you open your e-mail in-box in a certain day and got a message like this:_”Hey Fabio! Great job on Condor and Mosaic-Stan Lee”.

“JACK HIGHTOWER” written by oscar winner animator Will Vinton and his partner Andrew Wiese, I was responsible to do about a 120 pages of line-art in that graphic novel project for Dark Horse, you can get more info going to www.jackhightower.com .
Perceverance, professionalism and love in my work are virtues in which I’m proud to say walking close and are allowing me to open “gates” to show my art around the world. Was fortunate to do a DC comics “TEEN TITAN GO!” in one of my favorite characters in the team, “Cyborg” , the great writer J. Torres has invited me to work on this one, and it went pretty well, penciling and inking I was able to work free and to put all my design and layouts over the pages…
..The gates are getting broad and wide, “The Return of The Gremlins” for Dark Horse and Disney, is another outstanding comic book based in the Roald Dahl characters where made just in tigh-pencils way I could give to the characters and all the pages a soft and consistent result .
BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL I HAVE THE POWER!!!...Below are some of my pages for the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE comic book :
Besides all my work as penciler I also have a inker career where I had a opportunity to work with Ivan Reis Cliff Richards and Luke Ross in lots of books, I can say for the very passed miniseries ARMAGEDDON from CHAOS COMICS for the more actual ones like “INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF CRYSTAL SKULL” comic book adaptation for Dark Horse and Lucas film, the DC comics Green Lantern Corps plus Captain America from Marvel Comics.
I’m one of the DREAMWORKS CONSUMERS PRODUCTS artist , the beginning was with “Shrek the third” ( story book and coloring books) for Readers Digest, Kappa Graphics and HarperCollins uk, followed for “Shrek the halls” a very enjoyable book with over 60 fun flaps on it...and since then I’ve been busy with all new DW Movie projects that results in children books and comic books, Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar II and the upcoming 3-D movie “Monsters vs Aliens” are part of my portfolio as well and I’m really glad for this .
I've been married to Tatiana for 8 years now, where she gave me two WONDERFUL childrens , Maria Eduarda ( 3 years old ) and João Pedro ( one year ). ..I think the life would not be so good without them I thank God all the time for an amazing family I do have and I can’t left out my parents, my mother, Maria de Lourdes and my father, Lair Domingues Laguna ( yes! My father’s name reads like the comic book I’ve done:-)) that since I started the idea to be a comic book artist ( when I was 8 years old , I guess ), they never said no and never give up of me. ..thank you very much!
